The letter of the Bible shows us the Creator forming the body of man from earth. Careful observation of the world tends to make us see today that by this ‘earth’ we must understand a substance slowly developed from the totality of things, so that man has been drawn not precisely from a little amorphous matter, but by a prolonged effort of ‘Earth’ as a whole.
